And finally… Charlotte’s web

A start-up has unveiled its vision for a spider-like robot which it says could be used to advance lunar explorations and provide low-cost, low-carbon housing on Earth.
Crest Robotics says “Charlotte” could construct a 200 m² home in a single day, using an extrusion system developed by a partnering firm, Earthbuilt Technology.
“A Moon base is critical for further lunar exploration and deep space research, but conventional construction methods are impossible in space,” the company says.
“On Earth, we are experiencing a housing crisis. Traditional construction is slow, costly, and carbon-intensive.
“When Crest Robotics’ advanced capabilities are combined with Earthbuilt Technology’s extrusion and compaction systems, the result is Charlotte: a lightweight and fully autonomous spider-like robot that delivers a low-cost low-carbon construction solution.”
The Australian start-up has received funding from the New South Wales government and is looking for “collaborators to develop, test and scale this new way of building homes”.
