And finally… milking it
David Wilson Homes Scotland is launching a unique new initiative that combines sustainability, nostalgia and community spirit by offering residents complimentary doorstep deliveries of locally sourced, glass-bottled milk.
Delivered in partnership with local dairy producers Kerr’s Family Dairy and Mills Milk Scotland, new residents at selected developments in 2026, including Otter Stone Manor in Aberdeen, Findrassie in Elgin and Valley Park in West Lothian, can opt to receive up to four pints of milk per week for an entire year.
The initiative responds to growing consumer demand for eco-friendly shopping habits and locally sourced products. Recent research from Scotland Food & Drink found that as many as 80% of Scottish households actively seek out local products on grocery shelves, reinforcing the widely held perception of the quality and freshness of Scotland’s food and drink.
By reducing single-use packaging and supporting regional suppliers, David Wilson Homes’ milk delivery service also embodies the values of modern, sustainable living, while helping residents reconnect with the traditions of their communities – all while keeping fridges stocked with an important household staple.
Alison Condie, regional managing director for Barratt Redrow, parent company of David Wilson Homes, in Scotland, said: “At David Wilson Homes, we aim to create communities where residents feel connected to their homes but also to the people and the local producers around them and this initiative brings back a much-loved tradition, reimagined for today’s sustainable lifestyles.
“Through these partnerships, we will bring the simple daily convenience of fresh, local milk straight to our residents’ doors while supporting sustainability and celebrating local businesses. They also offer practical support for new homeowners by covering a household staple for an entire year and form part of our ongoing commitment to enriching lives within our communities.”
Through the partnerships residents can choose from a range of milk options including whole, semi-skimmed, oat or soya to be delivered directly to their doorstep each week.
Kelvin Kerr, director at Kerr’s Family Dairy, said: “At Kerr’s Family Dairy we’ve been delivering fresh, locally produced milk to homes across the region for generations, so partnering with David Wilson Homes is a natural fit.
“As a family-run dairy, supporting local communities has always been at the heart of what we do. Partnering with David Wilson Homes allows us to deliver high-quality, locally produced milk in a way that’s better for the environment and better for residents. It’s great to see traditional doorstep deliveries playing a role in modern, sustainable living.”
