Another BIM first for BDP

bim-level-2_mainBDP has continued the company’s trail blazing approach to BIM certification, by being the first in Scotland to be assessed and certificated under BRE Global’s BIM level 2 Business Systems Certification Scheme.

The international architecture and engineering practice has achieved BIM certification of its Glasgow studio nearly two years before the Scottish Government’s 2017 deadline for implementing Level 2 BIM across Scotland’s public sector estate.

This follows the landmark certification, under the BRE Global scheme, of BDP’s London studio last year, which established the company as the first in the UK to achieve this Level 2 BIM standard. Certification of BDP’s studios in Manchester and Sheffield – and Dublin, the first to achieve certification in Ireland – has followed.

“We are delighted to have taken a leading role, working with BRE Global, in our industry’s adoption of BIM Level 2 standards, which are now an integral part of our day-to-day workflows,” said Alistair Kell, director of information and technology at BDP.

As part of each certification process, BDP completed an online application form and submitted the required documents for review. After a desktop audit and telephone discussions, BRE Global conducted a site audit to review processes and procedures at each of BDP’s certificated offices.

“BDP has continued to demonstrate the company’s on-going dedication to BIM, performing confidently in a BIM Level 2 environment across the business,” said Ben Curtis, BRE global BIM scheme manager.

BDP is now working towards certification of the company’s studios in Bristol and Birmingham, which will bring all of its UK and Irish studios up to Level 2 BIM standard.
