Ardent strengthens Scottish growth ambitions with senior hire

Land, stakeholder and consents specialists Ardent has strengthened its Scottish operations with the appointment of infrastructure and property expert Gavin Falconer as senior associate director.

The strategic hire supports Ardent Scotland’s continued growth across infrastructure, transport, utilities and renewables sectors. It also strengthens the business’s specialist land and project delivery expertise at a time when developers, investors and infrastructure partners are facing increasing pressures around land risk, project viability and delivery uncertainty.

Based in Ardent’s Glasgow office, Gavin has more than 20 years’ experience in the property sector. He brings extensive expertise in strategic land management, infrastructure delivery and complex project development.

Most recently, he served as head of renewables at Forestry and Land Scotland. There, he led one of the UK’s largest renewable energy land portfolios, including 1.4GW of operational onshore wind capacity and a forward pipeline of 3.5GW.

Throughout his career, Gavin has worked across valuation, commercial property management and large-scale infrastructure projects. He also currently serves as a tribunal member for the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service, hearing cases relating to non-domestic rates and council tax.

Having worked closely with developers, landowners and infrastructure partners across Scotland for many years, Gavin brings significant client-side and strategic delivery experience to the role. His appointment further strengthens Ardent Scotland’s ability to support complicated projects through changing market conditions, policy challenges and increasingly complex land requirements.

Commenting on his appointment, Gavin said: “This is a really exciting time to join Ardent. Scotland’s infrastructure and development sectors are facing significant change, but that also creates major opportunities for businesses that can provide strategic insight and help projects continue moving forward.

“Ardent has built a strong reputation for supporting complex projects across infrastructure and energy. What really appealed to me was the opportunity to join a business with deep technical expertise, while still maintaining a collaborative and agile approach.

“There is a clear ambition within the Scotland team to continue growing and expanding its capabilities across the market. I’m looking forward to working with the team on a broad range of projects and helping clients navigate increasingly complex challenges around land, risk and project delivery.”

Gillian Lang, head of Scotland at Ardent, said: “Gavin’s appointment is a significant addition to our Scottish business and reflects our long-term ambitions for growth across Scotland’s infrastructure and development sectors.

“He brings exceptional experience across infrastructure, property and strategic land management, alongside valuable client-side insight from major renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

“As projects across Scotland face increasing pressure around policy, grid reform and delivery risk, clients are looking for strategic partners who can help maintain momentum and provide greater certainty around land and viability. Gavin’s expertise will play an important role in supporting that.”
