Fire and façade consultancy BB7 has launched its Façade Access and Maintenance Consultancy service line, a new addition to the company’s expanding suite of specialist services.
The new service line will be led by Liam Shepherd BEng MIET, a highly respected industry professional with almost two decades of experience in façade access design and strategic consultancy. He has successfully built and led façade access departments at major engineering firms, including Wintech and D2E, delivering innovative solutions for some of the UK and Middle East’s most complex and iconic buildings, such as Battersea Power Station, Piccadilly Lights, Dubai Design District, and 70 St Mary Axe.
Mr Shepherd’s extensive expertise includes presenting a technical paper titled ‘Key Considerations for Cleaning and Maintenance Strategies in Dense Vertical Urban Environments’ in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. He is also a Level 1 Qualified Rope Access Technician (IRATA), making him one of the first façade access consultants in the UK to achieve this qualification. His appointment marks a significant milestone in BB7’s strategy to provide fully integrated consultancy services across the business.
The new service will support architects, developers, main contractors, and property managers with bespoke, coordinated, and compliant access strategies throughout a building’s lifecycle.
Core services include:
- Façade access strategy design
- Performance specification and tender support
- Technical design audits
- Non-intrusive surveys and site monitoring
- Condition reporting and refurbishment advice
- Expert witness services
Liam Shepherd said: “My vision is to establish BB7 as the most knowledgeable and innovative façade access consultancy in the UK and Ireland. Having built teams before, I know the importance of keeping things clear, honest, and innovative, and with BB7’s reputation and ambition, I believe we can set a new standard for the industry.”
Based in Edinburgh and London, Liam and his team will collaborate closely with BB7’s established fire engineering, façade engineering, and building safety teams, delivering integrated advice and long-term value for clients. While the service will operate across the UK and Ireland, the team is also equipped to support international projects, with plans to expand across BB7’s wider office network.
The launch of the Façade Access and Maintenance Consultancy service is part of BB7’s long-term strategy to broaden its specialist offerings and help clients deliver safer, smarter, and more efficient buildings.
