CCG announces 21 new apprenticeships and grows development pipeline

CCGScottish private construction company CCG has recently taken on twenty one new apprentices, taking the total to 61 apprentices working in the company.

The firm believes that developing the next generation of skilled trades is critical to the long term sustainability of the construction sector.

CCG chairman and chief executive Alastair Wylie, who has previously warned of the potential skills-shortages in the sector and the danger they pose to the long term sustainability of the construction industry, said: “Coming out of the recession we needed to have the appropriate resources and people in place to maximise on opportunities. We took the decision to maintain our workforce and apprentice programme during the challenging times, continued to invest to grow and this is now paying dividends.”

CCG has maintained a strong apprentice intake as well as retaining a large directly employed workforce during the recession when others took a different path.

This strategy has positioned the business to take advantage of new opportunities as the sector recovers. CCG has been selected to develop a number of new projects with the Company commencing build of 185 low carbon homes in central Scotland as well as entering new markets with the Company venturing into the health sector, building charity Ronald McDonald House’s new home at the South Glasgow Hospitals Campus and the Kilbryde Hospice in East Kilbride.

These developments will benefit from the use of CCG’s flagship Off-Site Manufacturing facility, significantly reducing build time and delivering industry leading standards in environmental sustainability.

Mr Wylie added: “We are delighted to announce a number of new projects across a diverse range of sectors including retail, health and commercial. CCG’s strength lies in our ability to provide a quality, comprehensive turnkey solution and outstanding customer service. We will continue to invest in our talent, skills base and partnerships.”
