Glasgow construction company CCG is celebrating a landmark achievement after securing two major accolades at the Homes for Scotland Awards 2025: Homebuilder of the Year (Affordable Housing Provider) and Affordable Housing Development of the Year (Medium) for Water Row, a development delivered in partnership with Govan Housing Group.
Affordable housebuilding represents a significant portion of CCG’s annual turnover, with 1,200 affordable homes under construction across the Central Belt.
CCG is also a major employer with over 630 direct staff members, including 48 apprentices, with many new jobs, training opportunities, and work placements delivered annually through their affordable housebuilding programme.
The award win reflects the company’s sustained commitment to quality, innovation and social impact in the delivery of affordable homes with advanced construction methods and low carbon technologies combining to address localised housing needs, tackling fuel poverty, and supporting Scotland’s net zero transition.
David Wylie, managing director of CCG, said: “Being named Homebuilder of the Year is a tremendous honour and a testament to the dedication and talent of our 630-strong team. What’s particularly heartening is the strength of our culture being embraced across the company – especially by the growing number of younger colleagues, who are becoming the backbone of our future.
“Our people, along with our much-valued clients and delivery partners, have shown incredible resilience through a challenging year for the sector, with public sector budget cuts and inflationary pressures making it increasingly difficult to keep affordable homes affordable. However, through close collaboration with our clients and early-stage contractor involvement, we’ve been able to better control costs and mitigate external risks – proving that this model delivers results.
“More clients are placing their trust in CCG to lead projects from the outset, and while we know more must be done to address the housing emergency, we’re confident that we’re on the right path – powered by the commitment and passion of our people.”
The award for Water Row recognises a major regeneration success story in the heart of Govan. Completed in May 2024, the development comprises 92 mid-market rental homes and 6 community-focused commercial spaces. Designed by Collective Architecture and constructed by CCG using its innovative ‘iQ’ Timber System, the project sets a new standard for sustainability and placemaking in urban regeneration, achieving EPC A ratings through a non-gas energy strategy.
Water Row occupies a key site along the River Clyde, adjacent to the Govan-Partick bridge, a new active travel link that has already recorded over one million crossings. The development was underpinned by a collaborative design and planning process, involving local stakeholders and delivering extensive social and economic value to the area.
David Wylie continued: “Water Row has not only delivered much-needed, energy-efficient housing in Govan, but has also helped reconnect communities, support local enterprise and leave a lasting legacy of regeneration. The award is a reflection of partnership working and CCG’s deep commitment to delivering better homes, stronger communities and a more sustainable future for Scotland.”
