Consultation underway on proposed new Eastertoun Nursery School

A consultation has launched to seek views on a proposal to construct a brand new Eastertoun Nursery School in West Lothian.

The proposal would see all nursery pupils and staff relocated to a newly constructed facility which would be situated within the existing Eastertoun Primary School building and would replace the current stand-alone nursery school.

The consultation process commenced on 30 January and will run until 24 March. All parents and stakeholders in the nursery are invited to take part.

The consultation document outlining the proposal is available via the West Lothian Council website.

A public meeting to discuss the consultation document will be held at Eastertoun Primary School, 13 Manse Ave, Armadale, Bathgate EH48 3HS on Tuesday 14 March 2023 at 7.00pm - 8.00pm. Written comments can also be submitted via by writing in to the following e-mail address: Education.Consultation@westlothian.gov.uk. For written representations to be considered they must be received no later than 5pm on Friday 24 March 2023.

A decision on the proposal is planned to be made in June 2023 by the council’s Education Executive.

Executive councillor for education, Andrew McGuire, said: “This proposal would potentially result in an important investment towards the creation of a new vibrant learning environment for pupils and staff at Eastertoun Nursery School.

“I would encourage as many people as possible who have a connection to Eastertoun Nursery School to please take part in the consultation by the deadline on 24 March. Your feedback will be vital as it will help officers form the final proposal which will be heard at a future meeting of West Lothian Council Education Executive in June.”
