The housebuilder has now got a contract in place to acquire the site from Richardson, which has real estate interests across the UK as part of its international business portfolio. 

The planned acquisition will enable a long-standing brownfield site to provide new homes, creating a new residential development that is near Bathgate town centre.

Subject to planning, Cruden hopes to bring forward the development of 103 homes for private sale, with a mixture of two-, three- and four-bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached family homes, catering for demand in West Lothian. 

Overlooking Bathgate Golf Club, the development will have access to a variety of outdoor amenities, with National Cycle Route 75 being nearby. 

Andrew Duncan, land director at Cruden Homes, said: “The site offers a rare opportunity to bring vacant brownfield land back into productive use and to create a high-quality new residential development that makes a positive contribution to Bathgate.  

“With four live planning applications now progressing in West Lothian, we are continuing to invest in the area and build on our strong relationship with the local authority.”

Subject to the required planning approvals, Cruden hopes to progress proposals for the Bathgate site in the coming months. In due course, more information on the development and new homes is anticipated to be announced.
