Scottish Home Awards finalists unveiled ahead of 16th annual ceremony

The finalists in the 16th annual Scottish Home Awards have been announced in anticipation of the industry celebration and dinner, which will take place in Glasgow next month.

The awards, sponsored by Ross & Liddell, saw more than 140 entries judged in 19 categories by the highly regarded judging panel, which represented organisations from across Scotland.

Cruden Group and its two sister companies - Juniper Residential and Queensberry Properties - have been shortlisted for a trio of titles.

Muirwood Gardens by Juniper Residential has been named as a finalist for the ‘Age Exclusive Development of the Year - New for 2023’ category. Based in Kinross, the development is available exclusively to those aged 55 and over, offering a mix of 41 homes, ranging from two- to three-bed properties. Incorporating social spaces paired with modern living, Muirwood Gardens provides a warm and welcoming neighbourly feel with hotel-inspired facilities, including a communal Club Lounge and guest suite for visitors.

Situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s traditional Old Town, Waverley Square by Queensberry Properties has been shortlisted in the ‘Apartment Development of the Year (Private Sale)’ category. Boasting attractive living spaces, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh city centre, this development offers residents fantastic home comforts enhanced by the capital’s creative culture, with immediate access to local shops, restaurants and dynamic green spaces.

The third of Cruden Group’s developments to be shortlisted for this year’s Scottish Home Awards is Longniddry Village, East Lothian. Delivered by Cruden Homes in partnership with Places for People, Longniddry Village offers beautiful crafted and flexible family homes. The development comprises a mix of property styles, ranging from 2- to 5-bed coach houses, bungalows and villas.

Hazel Davies, sales and marketing director of the Cruden Group, said: “It’s a real honour to not only have one, but three, of our developments reach the final for this year’s awards ceremony. Muirwood Gardens, Waverley Square and Longniddry Village are all unique in their own way, designed with the residents in mind at all times.

“We recognise there is an extremely high demand for new family homes, but there are also a great number of house buyers who are looking for alternative styles of living - be that age exclusive living or dynamic city apartments. It’s important that we cater to the needs of all homeowners and these projects are a testament to Cruden’s ability to diversify and create high quality homes for all. We look forward to attending the Scottish Home Awards final next month and wish the best of luck to all of our fellow finalists.”

The event is due to take place on 22nd June.

Colin Cumberland, head of residential at Ediston Real Estate and chair of the Scottish Home Awards judging panel, said: “Judging the submissions this year has once again been a really rewarding experience because there were such a wide variety of homes in the competition. We were able to evaluate the numerous outstanding instances of excellence in design, customer service, and renovation thanks to the number of entries received, and we were able to highlight some outstanding examples of sustainability in the housing industry.

“The Scottish Home Awards is without a doubt a highly respected competition with the winning developers able to increase their sales opportunities and advising their customers of this success.”

Andrew Cunningham, managing director of Ross & Liddell, added: “The Scottish Home Awards recognise and honour the people and teams that work continuously within both the public and private sectors to deliver, varied and creative housing developments, addressing the need for high-quality homes across Scotland. It is encouraging to review, and reflect on, the outstanding work being undertaken in Scotland’s housing industry and highlight, and reward, those companies, and organisations, successfully meeting the challenges impacting housing development and raising the bar in what can be achieved.

“Discussions on this year’s submissions were detailed, and robust, and provided an insight into the specifics of each award category and the strength in depth of entries. I’d like to extend my gratitude to Ediston Real Estate for hosting the judging day and to my fellow Judges who, after much discussion, selected the deserving finalists.

“Ross and Liddell would like to congratulate all of the finalists for their accomplishments, and we are extremely proud to continue our support of their achievements.”
