Dalkia UK - Penicuik High School
The Scottish team of Dalkia UK is continuing to get more contracts in the East of Scotland, with a recent one being an £11 million award for Penicuik High School in Midlothian, which will see the company deliver full Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) work for the new extension of the school.
The company will also support the refurbishment of the 1930s building.
The project, which is delivered by the main contractor Morrison Construction, expands a growing portfolio of education sector work.
Dalkia UK is looking to carefully balance the preservation of the heritage building with the delivery of contemporary, sustainable building services.
The company also looks to enhance energy performance via high-efficiency Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) systems.
The three-storey new-build learning environment, which will deliver modern teaching facilities for almost 1,000 pupils, is currently being constructed.
The new school will deliver teaching, sports, dining, community, and wellbeing areas, such as enhanced provision for pupils with Additional Support Needs.
John Irvine, regional director at Dalkia, said: “Our appointment at Penicuik High School reflects our proven ability to deliver complex MEP installations on major education projects.
“Combining new-build and refurbishment works, this project will transform the school estate, and our experience in the education sector will help ensure its successful delivery.”
