Dougall Baillie Associates (DBA) has been shortlisted in three categories across two of Scotland’s most respected business awards programmes, underlining the firm’s continued growth, innovation and contribution to the country’s housing and construction sectors.
The East Kilbride-based civil and structural engineering consultancy has been named a finalist in two categories at the Scotland Business of the Year Awards – Small Business (up to 50 employees) and Investment – while also securing a place on the shortlist for Supporting Member of the Year at the Homes for Scotland (HFS) 2026 Awards.
The double shortlisting at the Scotland Business of the Year Awards recognises businesses that are innovating, disrupting and thriving, following a rigorous judging process that includes company visits and finalist pitches.
Winners will be announced at a black-tie awards ceremony at the Voco Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on 18 June 2026.
Meanwhile, the HFS 2026 Awards celebrate best practice across Scotland’s home-building sector and are built around the theme of ‘Homes Build Futures’, highlighting the vital role housing plays in shaping communities nationwide. Winners will be revealed at the Homes for Scotland Annual Lunch on Friday, 15 May 2026, at the EICC in Edinburgh.
Civil engineering director Scott MacPhail said: “This is a significant endorsement of the firm’s people, values and long-term strategy. To be shortlisted across three categories in two major national awards is a tremendous achievement for Dougall Baillie Associates and a real credit to our entire team.
“They recognise not only the quality of our technical work, but also the investment we continue to make in our people, our capabilities and the long-term future of the business.”
Now employing more than 40 staff, the firm has seen both headcount and turnover reach record highs in recent years, supported by a strong pipeline of work across housing, infrastructure and emerging sectors such as sustainable energy.
Scott added: “We have been fortunate to work on some of the most significant developments in Scotland, while still maintaining the culture, agility and close client relationships that define us as a business. This recognition reinforces our belief that steady, sustainable investment is the right approach.”
The shortlisting for Supporting Member of the Year at the Homes for Scotland Awards highlights DBA’s longstanding contribution to Scotland’s housebuilding industry, working alongside developers, local authorities and stakeholders to help deliver high-quality, sustainable homes and communities.
“Homes build futures, and we are proud to play our part in supporting the delivery of housing that makes a lasting positive difference,” said Scott.
“Being recognised by Homes for Scotland is particularly meaningful, as it reflects the strength of our relationships across the sector and our shared commitment to tackling Scotland’s housing challenges.”
