It comes just months after it was announced the consortium of homebuilders behind the development would be extending its support of the charity into the coming year and beyond.

The grassroots charity receives a ‘roof donation’ for every home completed by CALA Homes (West) and Taylor Wimpey West Scotland at the Maidenhill development in Newton Mearns. Miller Homes West Scotland banded together with its fellow homebuilders when it arrived on-site to further bolster the partnership.

The latest cheque handover – totalling £6,550 – marks a sell-out milestone for Miller Homes on the development, as all 60 homes within its Crofthead site are now reserved.

It takes the total donated so far throughout the partnership between the consortium and East Renfrewshire Good Causes to £11,750.

CALA Homes and Taylor Wimpey will continue the roof donation partnership as they both ramp up activity on the second phases of their developments – Balgray Gardens and Westfield Gate.

East Renfrewshire Good Causes was founded in 2007 by Newton Mearns resident Russell Macmillan, and since its formation, the charity has provided over £1m worth of donations to individuals and groups in the region.

It focuses on helping worthy causes across the community, including local residents and organisations such as care homes and schools, which are in need of support.

Russell Macmillan said: “We’re exceptionally grateful to the homebuilders behind the Maidenhill consortium for the latest round of ‘roof donation’ funding.

“As a result of the pandemic, the past year has been a challenge for many within the community, so all the funding we receive is much-needed and always put to the best possible use to benefit locals who require our help and support.”

CALA Homes (West)’s second phase at Maidenhill – Balgray Gardens – recently launched to buyers and will consist of 77 homes, including one and two-bedroom apartments alongside four and five-bedroom detached homes. Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s latest phase at Maidenhill, Westfield Gate, consists of 44 four and five-bedroom detached homes.
