Glasgow gives green light to 18-storey city centre aparthotel

Plans to create a new 18-storey ‘aparthotel’ in Glasgow’s city centre have been unanimously approved by the council’s planning committee.

Architecture studio HAUS Collective has designed the building on the corner of Cambridge Street and Renfrew Street on behalf of PMI Developments and Peveril Securities.

Set to replace the current unoccupied flat-roofed concrete building, the 161-unit aparthotel will combine luxury guestrooms with the services of a hotel, including a lounge, bar, staff offices, and laundry facilities.

The façade has been designed to complement neighbouring buildings through design and material choices. Two types of stone finishes will be used - textured stone finish for the main architectural elements and smooth stone finish panels for the secondary areas.

Windows have a chevron design on the ground floor, and on the upper floors, there will be a subtle chevron design and accent details on floors six and seven, where the building depth shifts. An outdoor patio will also be created on the sixth floor, which separates the lower and upper sections of the building.
