A team from the Development Trust project needed a donation of top soil for their community garden improvement project, and the generous team at Taylor Wimpey’s neighbouring development at Meadowside, where its new homes are now under construction, stepped in to deliver 23 tonnes of top soil.

The soil will help to help improve the general growing areas of the community garden, and it will be used to fill the planters that are now situated to the rear of the Development Trust’s building, which sits at the heart of the North Lanarkshire village of Glenboig.

Teresa Aitken, operations manager at Glenboig Development Trust, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from Taylor Wimpey since they started work on their development in Glenboig, and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation of top-soil for our community garden.

“This impressive delivery of 23 tonnes of top-soil allows us to push ahead with the next stage of planting in our community garden, and we can’t wait to involve our various community groups who will benefit from using the garden. More importantly, we are keen for the garden to become established as soon as possible to allow it to become the sustainable resource that we want it to be for everyone in the community to benefit from.”

Kyle Haddow, site engineering manager for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, added: “We are delighted to be able to support Glenboig Development Trust in this way and we are thrilled that our donation of 23 tonnes of top-soil has given their community garden project the boost it needed.

“Being able to work with local businesses and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us and it’s great to know that we are helping to make a difference within the local communities where we build, just like Glenboig.”
