Working with Kier Construction on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council, ADP’s Edinburgh team sought to imaginatively and sensitively re-purpose the long-vacant building to provide the council with a fully accessible and adaptable building designed to attract and retain modern business and innovation occupiers.

The practice said the new interventions have been designed to unlock the building’s potential while preserving and enhancing its inherent architectural and historical value.

The refurbished facility will provide approximately 6,000sqft of flexible office space over two floors. A new entrance, feature stair and lift provide safe and intuitive access to attractive, well lit and flexible office spaces. Improvements to the building also includes fabric repairs, and upgraded thermal performance, heating, lighting and natural ventilation.

ADP is currently working on proposals for phased development of the surrounding plots which will see the station building become the centre-piece of ‘Waterfront Broadway’, a vibrant, mixed-use, commercial and learning hub at the gateway to the Granton Waterfront Development.
