The appointment of Tony Madden as a building surveyor partner at Hardies Property & Construction Consultants’ Glasgow office makes it a family affair as he joins big brother Joe, who was himself appointed by the firm as an equity partner earlier this year.

Tony Madden joins Hardies following 11 years at Trident Building Consultancy, most recently as an associate director, prior to which he was a Chartered Building Surveyor at Knight Frank.

Of his appointment, Mr Madden said: “It’s very exciting and I can’t wait to get started. While I hadn’t been actively seeking a move, Joe managed to convince me that this was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse!

“Once I understood the opportunity and met with the management team, I jumped at the offer to lead Hardies’ Building Surveying team in Glasgow and the West of Scotland, where I can see ample scope for expansion.

“Hardies is a firm in a hurry. It’s on a steep growth trajectory and has a dynamic culture and friendly working environment which were too appealing to resist.”

Commenting on his brother’s appointment, Joe Madden added: “Our late father Harry ran the Building Surveying course at Glasgow Caledonian University for many years and was a well-known figure in the Building Surveying world.

“Possibly because of that, Tony and I share a familiar surname in the property sector and have found ourselves on the receiving end of much speculation that one day we might work together. I’m delighted that that day has finally arrived!”

Hardies’ senior partner, Danny McArthur, added: “Having never had a Building Surveyor partner in Glasgow until this, our 110th anniversary year, I’m delighted to welcome Tony alongside his brother Joe who, together, will help us realise our growth potential in Glasgow and the West of Scotland over the coming years.”
