Housing plans lodged for site of Biggar hotel

Ten homes could be built on the site

A planning application to demolish a hotel in Bigger and convert it into homes has been submitted to South Lanarkshire Council.

Plans include demolishing the Abington Hotel cottage to provide ten new homes with an access road and parking.

If approved, the Michael Nisbet Architects-designed plans could see two one-and-a-half-storey homes, six single-storey houses and two single-storey detached houses being built.

The site where the new development is planned for is currently in use as a hotel, cottage and open ground.

The cottage on the grounds does not meet current housing standards and has been vacant for many years.

The Abington Hotel is a three-star hotel with 28 bedrooms in the village of Abington in Biggar.
