Internal glass specialist Indeglas has been appointed by Springfield Properties to provide internal glazed ‘winter gardens’ within the construction of 114 affordable homes in Dalmarnock in Glasgow’s east end.

Springfield signed an £18.2 million agreement with West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) for the development of the homes in 2020.

The development comprises one-to-five-bedroom social rented and mid-market rent homes. The plans also include two commercial units and the provision of play areas.

The homes are designed to be attractive to live in and highly energy efficient, which will reduce running costs for tenants, and solar photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof of the buildings.

Indeglas commercial director, Iain McAlpine, said: “As we seek to broaden the scope of our workload, it’s especially pleasing to be appointed on our first volume residential project.

“The creation of internal glazed spaces is incredibly beneficial to the wellbeing of householders and will undoubtedly contribute to Springfield and their partners West of Scotland Housing Association’s desire to deliver well-designed, highly energy efficient homes that will have a positive impact on the area.”
