Infrastructure work begins at Whitefields housing development in Dunfermline

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has started on a comprehensive infrastructure programme at the new Whitefields neighbourhood in Dunfermline following Fife Council’s recent approval of an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC).

The approved infrastructure work will include the development of essential roads, sewers, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), and landscaping. Additionally, a separate approval for a sewer outfall on Whitefield Road has been granted.

As Whitefields, Dunfermline progresses, there will be a substantial range of benefits for the local community.

These include the creation of around 1,400 new properties offering a range of apartments and detached, semi-detached and terraced homes, affordable homes, a new primary school, and provision for shops and community facilities.

New cycleways and pedestrian footpaths will encourage green, active travel throughout the development and connect with the existing local communities, while key transport infrastructure improvements will be made to Kingseat Road (West) and Whitefield Road (B912).

The new Northern Link Road will be incorporated into the development, including pedestrian crossings, to provide a safe route to schools. In addition, measures to enhance the area for local wildlife and improve biodiversity will include features such as bug hotels and hedgehog highways.

Pauline Mills, technical director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be making good progress in the significant preparations required to create our new Whitefields neighbourhood in Dunfermline.

“The approval of our AMSC application for infrastructure allows us to begin this important programme of work; however, we also understand that such extensive work may cause some inconvenience to the local community.

“We sincerely apologise in advance for any disruptions our infrastructure work may cause. We are committed to minimising the impact on nearby residents and ensuring the work is completed as efficiently and safely as possible. Following the conclusion of the planning application process for our outstanding AMSC application for the first phase of new homes, we hope to start building the first new homes later this year.”
