Construction firm CGC has announced a jobs boost for Ayrshire after winning work from South Ayrshire Council.

Paisley-based CGC said it would begin recruiting immediately for joiners, painters estimators and project managers for a wide range of roles needed to fulfil the contracts awarded by the local authority.

It is one of the biggest-ever recruitment drives CGC has ever undertaken.

CGC said it was a “vote of confidence” in the skilled workforce in Ayrshire adding that it will allow the company to pump money back into the community through the wages of those it employs.

The four Measured Term Contracts relate to property owned by South Ayrshire Council across the local authority area and include resurfacing work, plumbing building work and roofing. CGC will respond to work needing done as and when it arises on the instructions of the council.

Leo Reilly, managing director of CGC, said: “We are committed to hiring staff from Ayrshire – particularly South Ayrshire - as a way of us putting something back into the area on the basis of these contract wins. We are completely confident we will find the right people with the right skills to enable us to carry out the work for South Ayrshire to the exacting standards expected of us.”

Director Ronnie McDowell added: “We are looking to recruit many roles over the next few months including quantity surveyors, site managers, project managers, contracts managers, painters, an estimator, metalworkers and joiners. A number of apprenticeship roles are also available. We’d like to hear from people who are interested in fulfilling these roles.”

CCG was set up in 2003 and currently employs over 120 staff.
