LMA invests in the future of design technology

unnamed (2)Lawrence Mcpherson Associates (LMA) has its sights set on the future and is looking at new innovative ways of working following their investment in the latest design technologies that will drive further construction efficiencies and assist the practice in achieving the highest standards of sustainable design for its clients.

BIM - or Building Information Modelling - enables everyone involved in a project to understand a building using a 3D digital model and its use is enhancing the ways in which the construction industry is collaborating. The Practice continues its 20 year association with Autodesk and has chosen Revit as its BIM platform.

In addition to the construction efficiencies, BIM technology also makes it easier for multiple partners to coordinate information on any one project and is driving-up standards across the built environment.

Steve McGhee, principal at LMA said: “The uptake of BIM across the industry is transforming the way in which the built environment works together. It puts architects on a level playing field with the many contractors involved on a build.

“This is ensuring that accuracy and consistency is maintained throughout the evolution of the project which is helping to improve standards of quality for clients and the end user.”

Steve added: “There’s a digital transformation taking place across the built environment and it is vital that practices like ourselves embrace new innovative ways of working to procure projects more efficiently.

“With the new hardware and software in place, we have set our self the ambitious target of full BIM implementation in 2015 on new and existing projects, marking the switch from 2D draughting to BIM as the office standard for all of our projects.”
