Civil, structural and conservation engineering practice Will Rudd has announced a wide-ranging programme of senior promotions and new appointments across its Glasgow, Dublin and newly established Inverness operations, marking a major milestone in the company’s continued UK and Ireland expansion.

As part of its growth across multiple sectors, including focus on energy, renewables and infrastructure, Will Rudd has confirmed the opening of a new base in Inverness, extending the firm’s reach across the Highlands.

The new operation will be led by Alasdair MacPhee, who has been promoted to associate, bringing leadership capacity to support a strong pipeline of Highlands-based projects. Alasdair will be supported with strategic guidance from MJ O’Shaughnessy, managing director for Will Rudd in Glasgow, Ireland, Inverness and London.

Central to the Glasgow announcements is the promotion of Gerard Carson to director, who has played a central role in the sustained growth of Will Rudd’s Glasgow practice, providing leadership across major civil, structural and conservation projects. His appointment to director reflects his long-standing contribution, technical excellence and strategic importance to the future direction of the company.

Supporting this senior leadership development within the Glasgow team, Darren Tannock and Leo Shand have both been promoted to associate, Andrew Horgan is now senior engineer and team leader, while Matthew Pieroni progresses to project engineer.

In addition, Will Rudd has made several key new appointments to support the Glasgow team’s growing workload. Taylor McLean becomes project engineer, Leon Church is now senior engineer, while Heather Smith rejoins the business as senior technician, further reinforcing the firm’s technical capability.

The company has also confirmed senior promotions within its Dublin office, with Shane McGowan promoted to director, leading the Irish business, and Eugene Sheehy advancing to associate. Mark Caffrey has joined as structural project engineer, while Andrea Olay has been appointed civil technician.

Collectively, these appointments represent a significant investment in leadership, talent development and geographic reach, reflecting Will Rudd’s strong workload across commercial development, healthcare, residential, heritage, energy and infrastructure sectors.

MJ O’Shaughnessy, managing director for Will Rudd Glasgow, Ireland, Inverness and London, said: “These promotions and appointments reflect a hugely positive period of growth for Will Rudd across Scotland and Ireland. We are absolutely committed to developing our people, recognising talent and creating long-term career opportunities, and it’s incredibly satisfying to see so many well-deserved promotions across the business.

“The launch of our Inverness base is a particularly exciting step, opening new opportunities across the Highlands across multiple sectors, while our teams in Glasgow and Dublin continue to go from strength to strength. I look forward to providing strategic guidance to Alasdair in Inverness and Shane in Ireland as they lead their respective regions, ensuring our expansion is underpinned by strong leadership and shared vision. Our people remain the heartbeat of our business, and 2026 is shaping up to be another exciting year for us.”
