McLaughlin & Harvey employees raise more than £40,000 for four charities

Colleagues from McLaughlin & Harvey’s Bristol office took on the National Three Peaks Challenge last month, scaling the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon) — all within 24 hours.
The total walking distance of the challenge amounts to 23 miles, and the total ascent is 10,052ft.
The challenge was undertaken to raise funds and awareness for four incredible charities that hold special meaning for the team and their communities: Heart Heroes, The Jessie May Trust, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal and Alzheimer Scotland.
Martin Harvey, senior commercial manager at McLaughlin & Harvey, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support from our colleagues, as well as the supply chain of McLaughlin & Harvey. We set ourselves an ambitious target of £40,000 and have exceeded this and more! The team showed great determination, hard work and team spirit throughout our training and on the challenge day. The mental resilience of everyone was amazing on the day and the weather was virtually perfect!”
The charities have also expressed their thanks and what it means to them.
George Angell, charity manager, Heart Heroes, shared his appreciation: “We’re incredibly grateful to the team at McLaughlin & Harvey for taking on the Three Peaks Challenge in support of Heart Heroes and other charities. Their dedication and determination have raised a fantastic amount, which will go a long way in helping us support children living with heart conditions and their families. On behalf of everyone at Heart Heroes – thank you for undertaking this challenge to fundraise for us.”
Emma Carter, from the Jessie May, Children’s Hospice at Home, said: “Huge congratulations to the team at McLaughlin & Harvey for completing the three peaks challenge and raising such a fantastic amount for Jessie May. Thanks to supporters like McLaughlin & Harvey, seriously ill children can spend more time at home, exhausted parents can take a break, siblings can spend time together and children can be children. Together, we help create moments of joy and memories for families to look back on when they need them most.”
Katie Soane, partnerships fundraising executive at The Grand Appeal, shared: “We are immensely grateful to McLaughlin & Harvey for supporting our mission to help sick children and their families at Bristol Children’s Hospital. As the hospital’s dedicated charity, we fund state-of-the-art equipment, art, play and music therapy, family accommodation, medical research, and so much more. It’s only thanks to the generosity of supporters like McLaughlin & Harvey that we can continue to be a lifeline for the 140,000 patients treated here every year.”
Kirsty Stewart, Alzheimer Scotland’s executive lead of fundraising and engagement, said: “We are very grateful to McLaughlin & Harvey for their generous donation. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Three Peaks Challenge – what an amazing effort.
“Every pound raised helps Alzheimer Scotland continue to support our vital network of dementia advisors, resource centres, and our 24-hour Freephone Dementia Helpline (0808 808 3000).”
