McTaggart marks 80th anniversary with £80,000 charity donations
McTaggart Construction has marked a significant milestone in 2026, celebrating its 80th year in business.
Reaching eight decades of delivering high-quality construction projects is a rare achievement and testament to the company’s enduring commitment to the clients, customers, and communities it serves.
Since 1946, McTaggart Construction has built a strong reputation across Scotland, with experience across a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, retail, agriculture, industrial, and both private and public residential projects. In recent years, the company’s primary focus has been on social and affordable housing delivered in partnership with housing associations and local authorities.
Rosslyn Anderson, director, said: “Reaching our 80th year in business is a remarkable achievement and a moment of great pride for everyone connected with the company. Founded in 1946 by my grandfather and his brother, the business was later carried forward by my father, who helped to shape its values and direction.
“Today, we continue this journey, building on a legacy of success, integrity, and commitment that has guided us for eight decades and will carry us well into the future.”
To mark this achievement, McTaggart Construction has decided to donate £80,000 to three charities close to its heart: Crossbasket House, The Beatson Cancer Charity and Simon Community Scotland. The chosen charities all provide vital support to people across Scotland, from families with children seriously ill in hospital to those facing homelessness and people affected by cancer.
The £80,000 donation, £1,000 for each year McTaggart has been in business, reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to the communities in which it operates.
Janice Russell, managing director, said: “Our primary focus today is social and affordable housing, and we’re privileged to deliver homes that provide security, opportunity, and hope to communities across Scotland. Our clients and partners have been instrumental to our success over these 80 years and we wouldn’t be here without their trust and collaboration.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we wanted to support organisations that share this mission - giving people a safe place during their most difficult times, supporting families when they need it most, and creating brighter futures.
“Crossbasket House, The Beatson Cancer Charity and Simon Community Scotland each make an incredible difference to people’s lives across Scotland. We’re proud to support their work and hope this donation helps them continue the vital services they provide.”
The charitable donation is one of several ways McTaggart Construction will be celebrating its 80th anniversary throughout 2026, with further events and initiatives planned to recognise the company’s eight decades serving Scottish communities.
