Moda Living unveils build to rent plans for former Strathclyde Police HQ

Holland ParkProposals for a £105 million transformation of the former Strathclyde Police HQ in Glasgow’s city centre into homes built specifically for private rent have been unveiled to the public.

Moda Living, the developer behind a 525-home project in Edinburgh city centre, staged an initial consultation outlining its indicative plans last week.

Local residents, businesses and stakeholders attended the public exhibition which featured a rundown of the regeneration proposals for the empty building at Pitt Street, known as Holland Park.

Under plans designed by Glasgow-based architects HAUS, the site will be redeveloped into a ready-made community featuring 450 mixed-style apartments, cafes, restaurants, workspace and gardens.

The Pitt Street offices, built in 1924, were previously home to Strathclyde Police, which was the country’s largest force from 1975 until the merger of the eight Scottish Police Forces in 2013.

Once finished, the apartments will be a range of one, two and three bedrooms while the on-site amenities will include a gym, cinema room, meeting rooms and residents’ lounge.

Outdoor gardens and barbeque areas with recreation spaces will be provided on the rooftops and across the complex.

A planning application is expected by June enabling a potential start on-site to be made in March 2018.

A targeted completion date is currently pencilled in for March 2021.
