Mollie’s Motels lodges plans for first Scottish hotel at Edinburgh Park
Budget hotel brand Mollie’s Motels has submitted plans for its first Scottish development — a 207‑bed US‑inspired hotel and diner on the southern edge of Edinburgh Park.
The proposal, now with the City of Edinburgh Council, covers a 0.63‑hectare plot within the business park and marks the company’s fourth site, adding to existing locations in Bristol, Manchester and Buckland in Oxfordshire. Owned by David Elghanayan of Nema Capital, Mollie’s said the Edinburgh move reflects “strong visitor demand” and the area’s “high‑quality environment”.
The scheme features 207 bedrooms, a lobby with reception and lounge space, a diner and bar with outdoor terrace, ancillary back‑of‑house facilities and car parking with EV charging. The project team includes 3DReid Architects, Lichfields and Amicus Property Consultants.
According to the developer, the construction phase alone is expected to generate £38.6m GVA per year, contributing significant economic value to the wider Edinburgh Park regeneration.
Managing director Matt Bell said the proposals were designed to align with the council’s ambition to establish Edinburgh Park as a major destination beyond the traditional city‑centre hotspots. He added that Mollie’s “value‑luxe, people‑first” model would integrate well with the area’s long‑term vision.
Public consultation on the plans took place earlier this year.
