New site for homes near Stirling put on the market

A development site close to Stirling city centre has been brought to market, with potential for new homes and other uses.
According to the city’s design guide, the site is “proposed for residential development up to five storeys”.
Avison Young is marketing the land in Stirling, describing it as suitable for a range of uses — including residential, student accommodation, and retirement living — “subject to the necessary consents”.
The agent said: “The site extends to approximately 1.8 acres and comprises cleared brownfield land along Forthside Way, in central Stirling.
“To the north of the site is a completed residential development comprising apartment blocks between three and five storeys.
“Riverside Quay student accommodation block is further north, next to the River Forth. To the south of the site is the Engine Shed conservation centre operated by Historic Scotland.”
The agent continued: “The former goods transfer shed has been restored, completed in 2017, into a heritage learning space. To the west of the site is Forthside Way, then Stirling railway station and Stirling city centre.
“To the east of the site is Forthside Way then a riverside path and green space along the River Forth.”
Avison Young added: “Within the Stirling Forthside Design Guide the subject site is proposed for residential development up to five storeys. In addition, the document proposes active travel and public transport routes to the east of the site and a new public square to the south.”
The site is close to Stirling city centre, “around 250 metres north of Thistles shopping centre”.
“Central Stirling has a good range of independent and high street shops, together with numerous bars and restaurants,” Avison Young said.
The Forthside site, which is being sold on behalf of Stirling Council, has a closing date set for Friday, November 7.
