Peacock charity receives helping hand from Taylor Wimpey

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland and local contractor Kingdom Maintenance recently stepped in to provide a range of building services expertise and materials to improve the aviary and outdoor space for the Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park charity.

Following the sad events earlier this year which saw youths break into the aviary and one of the birds sadly losing its life, the team at Taylor Wimpey’s regional head office in Dunfermline wanted to join the huge effort that has seen many local people and businesses support the aviary and help them to get back on their feet.

Commenting on the support that it has received from Taylor Wimpey East Scotland and Kingdom Maintenance, Suzi Ross, peafowl warden for Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park said: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from Taylor Wimpey and Kingdom Maintenance, and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation of materials and their expertise.

“Added to a large donation of timber and sand that we received from MKM Timber, we’re absolutely delighted with the ramps, shelter and sand-pit extension that has been created for the birds, which adds to the overall improvements that we have made to the aviary from the generous donations that we’ve received from so many members of the local community.”

Pauline Mills, land & planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, added: “We are delighted to be able to support the team involved with Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park. These beautiful birds are part of the fabric of Dunfermline, and we were saddened to hear what happened to the birds and their aviary earlier this year. We’re also very proud of the work our local contractor Kingdom Maintenance and what they have been able to achieve over the course of a week, which has made such an improvement to the bird’s outdoor enclosure.

“Being able to work with local businesses and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us and it’s great to know that we are helping to make a difference within the local communities where we build.”

Grant Taylor, managing director for Kingdom Maintenance, said: “I was pleased that our team could support Taylor Wimpey to provide a range of improvements to the aviary and bird enclosure in Pittencrieff Park, and to be part of the collective community effort to help this local charity get back on its feet.”

Taylor Wimpey’s donation and assistance to Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park is one of the many contributions being made by the housebuilder towards community facilities and infrastructure in the wider area.
