Persimmon North Scotland supports Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

Persimmon North Scotland has signed up to become an official company supporter of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity – the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families.

The charity offers a variety of services to support people working in the industry. This includes a free and confidential 24/7 helpline and a live chat service, as well as a text facility and free self-support app, which provides a range of information, guidance and support on a variety of wellbeing issues.

This is the latest step the Persimmon North Scotland team has taken to support members of staff with their mental health and wellbeing. Last year, the five-star builder launched a Wellbeing Wednesday initiative, which brings staff together once a month to focus on personal and professional wellbeing.

As part of the new partnership, the Lighthouse Charity’s Make It Visible on-site team will be visiting Persimmon sites across Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perth & Kinross, raising awareness of wellbeing with site staff and sub-contractors.

James MacKay, managing director of Persimmon North Scotland, said: “The construction industry faces a particular challenge with mental health and we’re delighted to be working with the Lighthouse Charity. They do fantastic work in providing advice and support to construction workers across the country.

“We want to make sure we’re doing everything possible to create an environment that supports good mental health and partnering with the Lighthouse Charity will help ensure all our staff and sub-contractors have the right help available if they need it.”

Sarah Bolton, chief operating officer of the Lighthouse Charity, added: “We are delighted to welcome Persimmon North Scotland as a Company Supporter. As well as supporting us financially, their pro-active stance on promoting a positive wellbeing culture with their employees and subcontractors ensures that their teams know how to reach out for support if they need it and will encourage open conversations where people feel supported.”
