Murray Estates Ltd has confirmed that pre-construction works to create phase one of Torrance Park in Holytown, North Lanarkshire are now well underway.

Plans to deliver a £60 million mixed-use development offering residential homes, as well as a new golf clubhouse is set to launch early next year.

Phase one is located on an area of land of around 40 acres that is adjacent to the western boundary of the established US PGA-accredited Torrance Park Golf Course in Holytown.

With works already well underway, this phase of the development will offer an impressive mix of 222 three, four and five bedroom new homes from Taylor Wimpey, as well as a new clubhouse, changing facilities and car parking for the popular golf course that is recognised as one of the best courses in the local area.

The £60m Torrance Park development by Murray Estates Ltd secured planning permission in 2010 from North Lanarkshire Council. This exciting multi-million pound master plan development will also provide extensive road and infrastructure works.

Jestyn Davies, managing director for Murray Estates Ltd, said: “Today’s announcement marks a key milestone in our journey to deliver our vision that will create a vibrant mixed-use development in the heart of North Lanarkshire. “We’re delighted to be able to announce Taylor Wimpey as our first residential developer at Torrance Park, and for the local community to see significant pre-construction works getting underway in earnest as plans progress well to launch new homes for sale early in the New Year.

“It is fantastic news that Taylor Wimpey has completed their purchase of the first substantial residential site. The creation of new homes will attract new people into the area, which in turn will boost the local economy.

“The master plan for Torrance Park by Murray Estates will also see the construction of a new golf clubhouse, extensive road and infrastructure works delivered alongside a range of new homes. We are fully committed to deliver our vision for the Torrance Park master plan by bringing it into a vibrant reality.”

Willie Burns, managing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “Our partnership with Murray Estates at Torrance Park, Holytown underlines our ongoing commitment, investment and strong track record of delivering excellent quality developments in North Lanarkshire.

“Our role in the creation of Torrance Park will deliver an attractive and desirable place to live within the Holytown area of North Lanarkshire. Today marks a great step forward for the overall Torrance Park master plan, as well as our commitment to build new homes here.

“The scope of our proposed plans will ensure there’s a wide choice of new homes to suit a wide range of buyers. We plan to have the first release of our three, four and five bedroom homes on sale at Torrance Park in early 2015, with the first families expected to move in towards the end of 2015.

“Taylor Wimpey is one of the largest homebuilders in the UK, helping to create new homes and communities across the country. And we’re keen to make a positive contribution to the existing local community of Holytown as our development progresses.”

Councillor James Coyle, convener of the planning and transportation committee, said: “I am pleased to see work underway at this new development, which will bring employment, new homes, infrastructure and facilities to the Holytown area as well as boosting the wider North Lanarkshire economy.”
