Fife Council is bringing forward proposals to redevelop the former community facility sites at Fair Isle Road, Dunearn Drive, Beauly Place and Alford Avenue to deliver high-quality affordable housing that responds to identified local needs.

The proposed development forms part of the wider Templehall regeneration project and has been developed in response to housing pressures across Fife and the housing emergency declared by the council in 2024.

Current plans include a mix of sheltered housing, wheelchair-accessible accommodation and larger family homes.

The preferred layout would provide 20 apartments within a sheltered housing development and 10 family and specialist homes, including wheelchair-accessible bungalows and larger family properties.

With that in mind, the drop-in event will be held at the Templehall Community Hub on Monday 17 August from 3pm to 7pm, giving local people the opportunity to view the latest plans and speak directly with the project team.

Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council’s housing spokesperson, said: “These proposals represent a significant opportunity to deliver much-needed Council housing in Templehall while making the best use of sites that have become vacant following the move to the new community hub.

“The housing mix has been carefully designed to meet a range of local needs, including accommodation for older people, larger families and residents who require accessible housing.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in the project specifically or with an interest in what is proposed in the local area to come along to the drop-in event to find out more and speak to the project team.”

Information on parking arrangements, and the project timeline will also be available at the event.

Also, as part of the wider Templehall regeneration project, opportunities are being explored to retain and celebrate important elements of the former church and community facilities.

Where practical and affordable, the aim is to incorporate key heritage elements into the new development or wider community environment so that Templehall’s history remains part of its future.

Members of the project team will be on hand at the event to answer questions and share information on the proposals for the area.

The event is informal and there is no need to book. Residents can pop in at any point between 3pm and 7pm.

The project team is currently preparing a planning application, which is expected to be submitted later this month. There will be opportunities for formal comments and feedback to be submitted on the proposals as part of the planning application process.

Subject to planning approval and funding, construction is anticipated to begin in spring/summer 2027.
