Plans submitted for Hearts new main stand

Hearts main standHeart of Midlothian Football Club has formally submitted a planning application for a new Main Stand at its Tynecastle stadium.

The next stage of the Tynecastle redevelopment will see the stadium transformed into a 20,000-plus capacity stadium in time for the 2017-18 season.

Adding 3,000 seats to the current capacity, the column free design will include two big screens and entertainment suites. The three existing stands will also be given a makeover including improved toilet and kiosk facilities.

The move follows on from the public consultation process that has been carried out in recent months.

The club has also received planning permission for the redevelopment of the Wheatfield Stand Undercroft. Work to construct new facilities for the temporary Clubstore, Ticket Centre, admin offices and dressing room/football department areas in the Undercroft is now fully underway.

The new Clubstore, Ticket Centre and offices are due to be completed in the autumn.

Club owner and chair Ann Budge hopes that work on the new stand will start next year and conclude in the 2017 close season.
