The hotel, which is located on Racecourse Road, is facing closure after plans were lodged to make alterations to the venue and change its use.

The agent in the proposals is Kilmarnock-based NR Weston Limited, while the applicant is Muir Fulton, of Maze Property Scotland Limited. According to planning papers, Ms Anne Rossi possesses the land ownership certificate for the Grade B-listed building.

The site was also home to the Ayr Brewing Company Ltd who until recently were based there before confirming online that the hotel was up for sale, the Ayrshire Post reports.
