Construction firm CHAP Group has appointed Richard Stott to the role of civils director to help deliver its ambitious growth plans.

CHAP was originally formed as a civil engineering company in 1976 but the successful expansion of its construction division in the ’80s and ’90s somewhat overshadowed its civil engineering function, but CHAP has committed to re-establish and grow its civil engineering division.

Hugh Craigie, CHAP’s MD, said: “We are delighted that someone of Richard’s standing and experience has agreed to join us and lead CHAP Civils going forward. CHAP has a long and proud record of successfully delivering civil engineering projects across Scotland and, on occasion, further afield. If you excuse the pun, strong foundations already exist but we look forward to Richard building on this and driving CHAP civils forwards.

“We have ambitious and challenging growth plans for all of the CHAP Group divisions and civils is a key component of these plans. We are excited for the years ahead.”

Richard added: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join CHAP and take on the CHAP civils leadership role. The energy and enthusiasm levels are high and the group is well placed to expand so I look forward to getting involved.”

Richard joins CHAP having spent over 26 years with a local competitor, latterly as its managing director.
