Robertson completes community facilities at Dundee school

Robertson Construction Tayside has delivered a new community extension at Mill O’Mains Primary School in Dundee which will provide out of hours access to amenities including a refurbished gym hall, stage and changing rooms.

The new 380sqm facility will be the neighbourhood’s new hub for community activity and will replace the Mill O’Mains pavilion which was destroyed by fire in 2017.

Kevin Dickson, regional managing director, Robertson Construction Tayside, said: “Community space plays a critical role in the lives of its residents, and we are delighted to deliver another first-class facility for Dundee City Council that those in Mill O’Mains, and the surrounding areas, can enjoy for years to come.”



Procured through Procurement Hub Major Projects Framework, the £3.2 million project included the school extension, which comprises of two linked multi-purpose rooms, alterations to form a new entrance and multi-purpose space and new toilets as well as the out of hours access to amenities.

Mill O’Mains is one of many schools in the city to receive improvement works as Dundee City Council looks to enhance service provision within its local communities.

Councillor Steven Rome, depute convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee, said: “I am pleased to see the work that has been undertaken to provide this tremendous facility.

“Both the school community and people in the local area are looking forward to this new accessible asset coming on stream.”



Councillor Stewart Hunter, children and families, convener said: “We have undertaken a major programme of works in our school buildings over the years.

“This project is a boost for the local area and I am sure it will be well used and enjoyed by many people in the future.”

Louise Dodds, client relationship manager, Procurement Hub, added: “We are delighted to be playing our part in bringing new community facilities to Mill O’Mains. Using the Procurement Hub Major Projects framework provided the flexibility and platform for Dundee City Council to utilise a local contractor of their choice for the duration of the project.”
