Robertson’s £40m Dundee Waterfront office and hotel plan set for approval

Dundee Central Waterfront Site ProposalA £40 million mixed use development looks set to be developed at one of the Dundee Waterfront’s most prominent sites after city planning officials recommended it for approval.

Robertson Group, together with architects Cooper Cromar, submitted plans in February to deliver 88 apartments across two buildings and a 150-bed hotel at Site 6 on the Waterfront.

Under the plans, spaces are also earmarked for retail use as well as spaces for restaurants, cafes and bars, while several floors of office space will be available for rent.

Dundee Central Waterfront Site ProposalIn a report due to go before councillors on Monday, case officer David Gray says the application has factors which “weighed strongly” in support of the development.

His report states: “The proposals are considered to offer a high standard of development and will contribute to the delivery of the Dundee Waterfront Masterplan to the enhancement of the city.”

However, Mr Gray concedes that the proposals do not include any residential parking, despite the large number of apartments proposed.

He adds: “The Central Waterfront location benefits from excellent transportation accessibility, good local cycling infrastructure and multi-storey car parks within walking distance.”

Dundee Central Waterfront Site ProposalIf approved, the plans is for the site to be developed in phases, starting in September with work on the offices and hotel aiming to be completed for the opening of the V&A Museum next year.

The apartments will follow, with a planned completion date of summer 2019.
