Originally founded as the Annandale Tile Company, the company is recognising long-serving employees at its 11-acre Halleaths manufacturing site where a team of 50 are based.

As part of its Long Service programme, staff are awarded several gifts, including trees within managed woodland from The Woodland Trust – the largest woodland conservation charity in the United Kingdom. This long-lasting legacy aligns with the company’s sustainable values and Net Zero pledge.

A total of four employees recently received their long service award, including operations director, Bruce Laidlaw, who is celebrating 25 years with the company. Operating from Lochmaben, Bruce oversees the firm’s two Roof Tile Manufacturing plants based in Scotland and the Midlands of England 

Bruce said: “Having started my career with Russell Roof Tiles 25 years ago, it’s been incredible playing a crucial role in helping the firm grow. From being a part of new investments across our manufacturing sites as well as the launch of pioneering new products, I’ve witnessed a huge and continued transformation of the company.” 

Other recipients of long service awards included Charles Graham and William Riddell, with 15 years’ service, plus sales executive Gordon Mckinnon, who has been a key contact for the North West region for a decade.

“Our Halleaths site in Lochmaben is where it all began over 60 years ago, and the team have played such an important role in the development of the firm. I could not be more grateful for their hard work.” 

Russell Roof Tiles celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2025, marking 60 years since John Gibson founded Annandale Tile Company. Since those early beginnings, the business has continuously evolved, building a strong reputation for innovation and quality.
