Scottish Building Contract Committee appoints Dr Andrew Agapiou to its board

Dr Andrew Agapiou
The Scottish Building Contract Committee (SBCC) has appointed Dr Andrew Agapiou to its board and committee.
He represents SBCC stakeholder, The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
Dr Agapiou is an associate professor in Construction Law at the University of Strathclyde and acting chair of the RIAS Contracts Committee. He holds LLM degrees in Construction Law and Mediation and Dispute Resolution, and is a Chartered Professional Engineer (MIE Aust, CPEng) and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).
An experienced charity trustee and certified practising mediator, he contributes to governance, policy development, and legal education. He also serves as a monitor for the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Dr. Agapiou brings interdisciplinary expertise and informed judgment to support the work of the Scottish Building Contract Committee.
The SBCC board has overall responsibility for setting and monitoring SBCC’s policies and strategies, including business management and finances.
Board members are nominated by SBCC’s five financial stakeholders:

- Build UK
- The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS)
- The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- Scottish Building Federation (SBF).
