Law firm Shoosmiths has appointed two principal associates and two associates to its real estate practice in Scotland.

Ben Harper-Phillips has joined as a principal associate, having recently relocated to Scotland from Australia. An experienced real estate solicitor, who has been recognised in Best Lawyers in Australia for the last three years, he will support clients both north and south of the border on a wide range of investment and development transactions.

Gillian Watson has also joined the firm as a principal associate to support clients in Scotland and England. Previously with Brodies, she is dual-qualified and has significant experience in investment, energy and asset management, including advising on cross-border real estate transactions.

In addition, Katie Milner has been appointed as an associate. Based in the Edinburgh office, she has experience in investment and asset management. Together with Rebecca McGregor, who has recently joined from BTO and is due to qualify in September, both will support their senior colleagues in advising on housebuilding, development, real estate finance and corporate occupier matters.

Barry McKeown, head of real estate Scotland, said: “In Scotland, we are proud of our reputation for applying an entrepreneurial mindset and our in-depth sector specific knowledge in the Living, Corporate Occupier and Real Estate Finance markets to deliver results for a blue-chip client base that operates across the UK.

“On behalf of our growing and talented real estate team, I warmly welcome Gillian, Ben, Katie and Rebecca to Shoosmiths. I am confident each will quickly make a positive contribution as we continue to support our many valued clients in Scotland and south of the border.”
