South Ayrshire Council's flagship project in Girvan shortlisted for top award

South Ayrshire Council’s brand-new, super-energy-efficient building in Girvan has been shortlisted for a Just Transition award at the BE-ST Accelerate to Zero Awards.

The prestigious awards recognise those who are making the biggest contribution to decarbonising the construction industry.

The high-performance building at Bridge Street Depot in Girvan, was meticulously designed to ensure maximum energy efficiency can be achieved in all seasons.

With the build now nearing completion, the area’s golf operational, grounds maintenance and waste management staff can look forward to the move to their new base later this year.

South Ayrshire Council’s portfolio holder for Buildings and Environment, Councillor Martin Kilbride, said: “To be shortlisted in the Just Transition category of the BE-ST Accelerate to Zero Awards is an outstanding achievement.

“Every aspect of the Bridge Street Depot building was designed, planned and project managed in-house by our Professional Design Services team, with the end result being a super energy-efficient work base for local staff.

“The team should be extremely proud of what they’ve achieved with this project, and I wish them the best of luck at the awards ceremony on the 1st of November.”

The winners of the BE-ST Accelerate to Zero Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony in Glasgow on Wednesday 1 November 2023.
