Springfield Properties accounts assistant Courtney McBain has achieved joint fourth position in the world for her Management Case Study module as part of her Chartered Institute of Management Accounts (CIMA) qualification.

A key employer in Moray and the Highlands, Springfield is committed to supporting staff develop through further education with 6% of employees across the business studying alongside their jobs.

From Elgin, Courtney joined the leading private and affordable homebuilding firm in 2015 and has been studying for her CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting qualification for the last eight years. Courtney completed her Management Case Study Exam earlier this year, achieving an exceptionally high score that has placed her joint fourth in the world for the module.

Courtney said: “I’m so delighted with the outcome of the exam – to think I was nervous walking out of the exam room! Like anyone juggling work and education will know, working alongside studying is hard work and it pays to be organised to manage the revision and coursework.

“Given the nature of my role at Springfield, my revision feeds into my work and gives me the opportunity to put the classroom theory into practise and I’m hugely grateful to Springfield for this opportunity. I’m pleased that my efforts are paying off and to have received such high recognition from the Chartered Global Management Accountant examination board.”

Springfield chief executive, Innes Smith, said: “Studying alongside a full-time role is challenging enough, and to secure such an impressive result demonstrates the exceptional talent and hard work Courtney has dedicated to her course. She is an asset to the accounts team and the company, and we are very proud of her accomplishments so far.”
