Taylor Wimpey lodges plans for new phases of Dunfermline development

Taylor Wimpey has submitted an Approval of Matters Specified in Conditions (AMSC) planning application to Fife Council for the infrastructure required at Halbeath for Phases 2 and 3 of Whitefields neighbourhood in North Dunfermline.

This latest AMSC infrastructure application will support the future delivery of new homes and includes the provision of main roads, landscaping, SuDS and open spaces including a section of the Northern Link Road, which will eventually connect to the new rail bridge crossing being delivered by Fife Council.

As Whitefields progresses, there will be a substantial range of benefits for the local community. These include:

  • The creation of around 1,400 new properties offering a range of apartments and detached, semi-detached and terraced homes to appeal to a wide range of potential homebuyers.
  • A new primary school.
  • Provision for shops and community facilities.
  • Affordable homes.
  • New cycleways and pedestrian footpaths will encourage green, active travel throughout the development and connect with the existing local communities.
  • Key transport infrastructure improvements to Kingseat Road (West) and Whitefield Road (B912).
  • Incorporation of the new Northern Link Road into the development, including pedestrian crossings, to provide a safe route to schools.
  • Meadow grasslands to provide future homeowners access to beautiful green open spaces to encourage healthy and sustainable living.
  • An equipped play area in Phase One of the development.
  • Measures to enhance the area for local wildlife and improve biodiversity by including features such as bug hotels and hedgehog highways.

Pauline Mills, technical director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, commented: “We are delighted to be making good progress in the significant preparations required to create our new Whitefields neighbourhood in North Dunfermline. Our commitment to delivering this project is reflected in our latest AMSC application for infrastructure, which is in preparation for Phases 2 and 3 at Halbeath.

“As many local residents are aware, infrastructure and improvements for Phase 1 are already underway, and we sincerely apologise in advance for any disruptions our current programme of work may cause. We are committed to minimising the impact on the local community and ensuring the work is completed as efficiently and safely as possible.

“Furthermore, we are hopeful that our outstanding AMSC applications for the first residential areas will be concluded shortly, allowing us to start building the first new homes later this year. At this stage, we anticipate that our first homes at Whitefields will go on sale in early 2026.”
