VHE secures £11m Glasgow remediation contract at Sighthill

sighthill-2018-image-2VHE has been awarded the contract to deliver a major £11 million remediation scheme for Glasgow City Council at the Sighthill regeneration area.

The design and build contract covering 50 hectares paves the way for almost 800 new homes, new road and pedestrian bridges, amenity parkland, a new school and sports campus, student accommodation at the site.

Having previously carried out major remediation projects in Glasgow such as the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village site and successfully treating Hexavalent Chromium at Shawfield, this is yet another major success for VHE in the area.

The Sighthill project will see the remediation of historical contamination both ex-situ and in-situ in particular Galligu and will also see demolition, deep grouting, drainage diversions and infrastructure works.

As with previous schemes undertaken by VHE, particular emphasis has been placed on Community Benefit, archaeological interest and ecological sensitivity.

Works are due to start on site in January 2016.
