Work will get underway on 5 October to provide a new walking, cycling and wheeling route that will connect Bridge of Allan to Stirling.
The planned works will connect Bridge of Allan (at the junction of Keir Street and Fountain Road) with the walk, cycle, live Stirling infrastructure on Airthrey Road (at the Hillfoots Road junction) situated near the University of Stirling.
The works, funded by Transport Scotland’s Active Travel Infrastructure Fund, will start on Keir Street with the phase going ahead for 12 weeks.
The designs for the project, which is scheduled for completion in late autumn next year, have been driven by a public consultation which went ahead last year.
In Keir Street, this will see the delivery of traffic calming measures as well as surface changes in a bid to reduce speeding and reinforce the Highway Code at junctions.
There will be no presence of cycle lanes or the narrowing of the road on Keir Street, and on-street parking will remain.
Temporary signs have been installed to advise people concerning the works and letters have been sent to residents and businesses in the vicinity of Kier Street providing further information.
The information includes details on temporary local road closures and traffic management measures.
Councillor Alasdair Tollemache, Environment, Transport and Net Zero convener, said: “The new infrastructure will deliver a wide range of environmental, social and economic benefits and it will link to other current and planned active routes, supporting our wider efforts to create an integrated public transport and active travel network.
“The design of the route, including on Keir Street, has been informed by feedback we received in surveys to help it meet the needs of local communities.”
The work on Keir Street includes the widening of footpaths to enhance pedestrian accessibility; construction of elevated sections of road to develop a safer, continuous path for pedestrians and new roadside drainage.
Where possible, vehicle accessibility to properties and businesses will be maintained. Residents will be informed in advance of any temporary restrictions.
