Plans for the completed Birkwood Castle The developer behind the transformation of a 17th century Gothic mansion in South Lanarkshire into a luxury hotel has fallen into administration.

Highland civil engineering firm Daviot Group Limited has been liquidated with all 31 employees losing their jobs. The company previously delivered power cable installation, civil engineering infrastructure and utilities services, as well as plant hire from its base at Harbour Road, Inverness.
