Multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy Cundall has appointed Alexander Drysdale as director of building services in Edinburgh, supporting the continued growth and expertise of the practice.

With over 25 years’ industry experience, Alexander joins Cundall following more than a decade at Sweco, and managing his own engineering firm.

Since graduating from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Alexander has built his career across both Scotland and England. He has successfully delivered and led building services and sustainability design on multiple award-winning projects, including several developments within the King’s Cross Central Masterplan, and has designed a number of mixed-use plots as part of the Canada Water Masterplan.

Tony Centola, partner, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Alexander to Cundall and the Edinburgh leadership team. His skills and experience in supporting clients with their ambitions for sustainable building services solutions will help us to continue delivering engineering excellence, and to support our team in their continued growth.

“This appointment is also a great symbol of Cundall’s 50th anniversary, demonstrating our commitment to investing in the future of the business.”

Alexander said: “Cundall’s reputation for combining technical excellence with a genuinely integrated approach to sustainability made it a very natural fit for me. The industry is moving rapidly towards net zero, but the real challenge lies in delivering solutions that are both ambitious and achievable.

“My experience has been centred on developing practical decarbonisation strategies and embedding sustainability into the core of MEP design. I’m excited to be joining a team that shares this mindset and to support clients in navigating that transition - unlocking value through intelligent, performance-driven design.”
