Arup’s Naeem Hussain awarded RIAS Honorary Fellowship

Architect and engineer Naeem Hussain has been awarded with Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).

Presented at the annual Royal Society of Engineering/ Royal Academy of Engineers annual lecture ‘The Design and Construction of Queensferry Crossing: A Unique 3-Tower cable Stay Bridge’, the Incorporation’s Honorary Fellowship is given to those who, in the view of the Council of the RIAS, have made an outstanding contribution to Scottish arts, literature, music, science, contribution and to the public life of Scotland or to international architects.

An Arup Fellow and Arup’s Global Bridge Leader, Naeem was awarded the Incorporation’s Honorary Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding design of the Queensferry Crossing, described by him as a “blade of light” and an achievement appreciated throughout the world.

The Award was presented by RIAS President, Stewart Henderson who said: “Naeem has made a significant contribution to the design of iconic bridge structures throughout the world, including the new Queensferry Crossing.”
