Bancon Homes moves south with plans for 37 new homes South Lanarkshire
Aberdeenshire housebuilder Bancon Homes is targeting more new business in the Central Belt after unveiling plans for its first development outwith the North East of Scotland.
About this development:
- Authority:South Lanarkshire
- Team:Bancon Group (developer), Halliday Fraser Munro (architect)
The application to South Lanarkshire Council calls for the next phase in the approved East Overton masterplan, which has so far delivered 142 homes.
In this phase, Bancon Homes will create 37 four and five-bedroom detached homes off Glassford Road.
Designed by Halliday Fraser Munro, these will range in style and design, with an emphasis on the use of sustainable materials and the provision of high-quality landscaping throughout.
Allan Clow, managing director of Bancon Homes, said: “We are delighted to announce our plans to expand out-with Grampian for the first time. Strathaven is a beautiful location to live in, with one of the best schools in Scotland in Strathaven Academy. So, we feel that it is the right place for us to start our first development in the central belt, and we are excited to bring our high specification homes to the region.”
In their design statement, the architects wrote: “The masterplan promotes the considered design of massing and street layout to create a distinctive and familiar urban expansion of Strathaven and not a separate development.
“The massing of the house types have been designed to reduce the width of the gables and create appropriately proportioned gables which project on the front elevation. This will create a distinct pattern within the street scene and will minimise large blank gable walls within the development which have little relationship to the locality.
“This creates a shallower plan and avoids narrow frontages which typically generate a deep plan and in-appropriate proportions.”
