Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has donated £1,000 and a supply of new books to The Good Shepherd Centre in Bishopton.

Organised by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s Young Person’s Forum, who will return in early 2023 to help the centre make improvements to their outside space, the team wanted to show their commitment now by collecting new books donated by staff from its head office in Paisley and sites across the west of Scotland. To boost the donation, the senior team at Taylor Wimpey has provided £1,000 for the centre to spend on various resources it needs.

The Good Shepherd Centre is a Scottish charity that provides a secure and intensive service for vulnerable young people based in Bishopton, Renfrewshire. Its purpose is to provide a positive, life changing experience for young people through individual care, education and skills development.

Commenting on behalf of The Good Shepherd Centre, Robert Clark, head of intensive support & throughcare, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from Taylor Wimpey, and we can’t thank them enough for their generous donation of £1,000. The young people have identified items that they would like to purchase with this donation, and they are delighted that so many books have been gifted from their staff. This will enhance the library that we have for the young people in the GSC.”

Amy Morrison, finance assistant and committee member of the Young Persons’ Forum at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be able to show our support for The Good Shepherd Centre in this way. Members from our Young Persons’ Forum will be back early next year to volunteer their time to help improve the outside space at the centre, and we can’t wait to help.

“We hope this donation of £1,000 now will go a little way in helping to provide some resources at centre, while the supply of books that we have collected from our staff will offer a lovely boost to the centre’s library resource.

“The work we do is a lot more than just building high-quality homes. Being able to work with local organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us and it’s great to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in local communities.”
